1 | 7435658 | Notion | notion | 82623 | 4.5 | Quick to learn and valuable for collaborating | 2022-11-28T22:05:47-06:00 | 2026-10-30T11:05:03-05:00 | Notion is a collaborative cloud-based tool combining the benefits of a database, tables, and word/images/file links. Aside from the ease of collaboration with colleagues, I really like the 'History' feature, where you can go back in time to a previous version of your Notion page to restore if you made changes you did not intend. | Notion can be a bit clunky at first to learn. I suggest taking a quick tutorial before diving in. Although I learned it pretty quickly, there are features I didn't know upfront that would have been useful had I known them from the start. The tool is very powerful, so just a cursory understanding does not allow you to use the many benefits. | Notion is a collaborative cloud-based tool combining the benefits of a database, tables, and word/images/file links. Our teams work remotely, and we are using Notion as a centralized database of all sorts of information. We use this for documentation, sharing progress on projects, and more! Notion allows users to easy add simple notes, pages, tables, databases, images of all types, URL links and more - excellent for collaborating within 1 tool in the cloud. | Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Organic | true | false | true | false
2 | 13908784 | Notion | notion | 82623 | 4.5 | A Flexible Home for Engineering Docs, Though Organization Takes Work | 2026-10-29T16:43:34-05:00 | 2026-10-29T16:43:34-05:00 | Notion gives us one central place for our engineering docs instead of having them scattered across Google Docs, Slack threads and READMEs. Linking pages and using databases with templates keeps docs consistent and makes it easier to find past decisions and context. The flexible editor is the standout: I can write quickly with slash commands, markdown shortcuts, code blocks and toggles, and embed diagrams, tables and links. Templates give design docs and postmortems the right structure, and databases let us tag docs by project and status so it’s easy to see what’s current. Sharing and commenting make team reviews simple. Notion AI helps summarize long threads and find answers across the workspace, which makes onboarding faster because new engineers can find things themselves. Notion and its Slack integrations save us time, and embeds and link previews for Linear issues and Figma designs work well. We wanted one searchable, well-organized home that engineers and non-engineers could easily read and edit, and Notion fit that best. Setup was very easy: we were up and running in a day, importing Google Docs and markdown files worked well, and the built-in templates gave us a good starting point. Notion has become the home for our engineering knowledge, and I’d recommend it to other engineering teams. | As our workspace grows, it can get messy with outdated pages and duplicate docs, so it takes discipline to keep things organized. Large pages and databases can feel slow to load. Code blocks could use better syntax highlighting, and I’d like deeper Git integration, including a native GitHub sync for docs that live alongside code. Offline support is also limited. I’d also love built-in tools to flag pages that haven’t been updated in a while. | Notion gives us one central place for our engineering docs instead of having them scattered across Google Docs, Slack threads and READMEs. 7 | 13677422 | Grist | grist | 154848 | 5 | A Relational Spreadsheet with APIs and Self-Hosting That’s Hard to Leave | 2026-09-30T21:10:42-05:00 | 2026-09-30T21:10:42-05:00 | The relational database in a spreadsheet (like Google Sheets or Excel) form is just great and I cannot emphasize this enough. I can't even go back to a normal spreadsheet after being exposed to grist.
They also provide APIs that I actually use to sync to and from various tools.
The self host option is just the cherry on top for the tool. Then the widgets are a way to help increase the functionality by letting users use Javascript, HTML, CSS to create custom apps on top of the data. Which ties in well with their newly introduced MCP.
Using the MCP, I was able to create a webapp specifically for my business needs where I know the underlying logic (since the app can be built on top of what I've already designed). You could let the AI make the data relation as well but that just doesn't seem sustainable to me. | Mostly UI elements and some nitpicks. I can't wrap the column headers so that means if I have to extend the whole column just to see the header.
For the Formulas, I wish they put in some way for users to have reusable functions.
The views (forms, tables, widgets, etc) should really have a better way to be displayed as it always feels cluttered. I've been using the "Install as an App" from Chrome to make Grist an actual desktop (Windows) app so this particularly doesn't concern me all that much but when you're in a browser, the tab name is just the Document Name (name of the spreadsheet) and not the current view you're on so you can imagine how inconvenient this is. | The relational database in a spreadsheet (like Google Sheets or Excel) form is just great and I cannot emphasize this enough. I am in charge of purchasing and managing more than 300 SKUs with long lead times and low safety stocks.
Initially we were just using google sheets to manage the prices and the POs but it got unwieldy quickly because the same item can have multiple suppliers and varying prices/lead time where I have to decide where to get something from depending on the circumstances. I ended up with multiple google sheets linked with IMPORTRANGE, and moving one column meant breaking almost everything.
Migrating to Grist enabled me, as a layman, to build my own relational database and actually use it in the same UI is extremely intuitive. It's like a a roided up Google Sheets/Excel. | Josef . | Organic | true | false | false | false

It’s very useful and makes it easy to connect data, which has improved my workflow a lot compared with using a traditional spreadsheet. At the same time, it remains intuitive for non-programmers who want to work with a database that looks and behaves like a spreadsheet.
I’ve tried several no-code database tools like Budibase, NocoDB, and NocoBase, as well as full ERP systems like ERPNext and Dolibarr. For my needs, I think Grist hits the sweet spot. | Sharing a document or a workspace feels a bit awkward. I can’t share a workspace, and when I share documents there isn’t a list of users who already use my Grist, so I have to type each email address every documents. | Spreadsheet, but also a database—and a database that still feels spreadsheet-like. G2 Reviews returns the published reviews of any software product listed on G2, one row per review. Each row carries the star rating in half stars, the review title, what the reviewer liked and disliked, the full review text, the posted and updated dates, and the reviewer's job title and company size.
Product managers use G2 Reviews to mine what customers praise and complain about in their own product. Competitive analysts compare sentiment across rival tools, and customer success teams watch for new low-star reviews before they become churn.
