# Hacker News Stories API

Hacker News stories with rank, title, link, body and author from the top, new, best, ask or show feed, or search by keyword.

**Pricing:** $0.01 per story

**Endpoint:** `POST /v1/data/hackernews/stories/run`

**Auth:** `Authorization: Bearer mk_live_...`

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|-----------|------|----------|-------------|
| `feed` | string | No | Which Hacker News list to read: Top, New, Best, Ask HN or Show HN. Top by default. |
| `query` | string | No | Search stories by keyword, e.g. openai. Leave empty to read the chosen feed. |
| `sortBy` | string | No | Order of search results (only used with a Search Query). |
| `maxResults` | integer | No | How many stories to return in total. Defaults to 100; use 0 for all. |

## Example

`?wait=true` holds the request open until the run finishes (up to 60s) and returns the rows inline: one request, no polling.

## Longer runs

If the run is still going at the 60s ceiling you get back `{ job_id, status: "running" }` instead of rows (same if the result is over 100 rows; those come back `truncated`). Poll with that `job_id`:
